Gold Bar 10 g

The ten gram gold bar with a fineness of 999.9 is very popular. A bar of this denomination already represents veritable value.

Another advantage is that many manufacturers produce this bar in this purity grade of 999.9. Some of them are offered with special security features and even as fair-trade versions.

Who produces 10 gram bars

In Switzerland, there are the following refineries that produce 10 gram gold bars:

Px Precinox

Various banks also have their bars produced by these refineries, which they then sell under their own brand. Argor-Heraeus, for example, also manufactures the bars of the ZKB.

How 10 gram bars are made

After refining recycled gold or raw gold into fine gold with a purity of 999.9, long gold strips are made from it. These gold bands are then stamped to produce ten-gram ingots, which are then embossed as required.

Unlike larger bars, ten gram bars are not cast.

The purity of 10 gram bars

Today, manufacturers in Switzerland produce almost only 999.9 gold bars. But even a purity of 999 can often be found on the market. Rather exotic is the fineness 999.5, but it is very common with platinum.

995, the lowest purity that just meets the LBMA's Good Delivery Standard, is only found on older bars. The purity of 995 is the lowest for bars that is still exempt from VAT under the Federal VAT Ordinance. Gold bars with a purity lower than 995 are subject to VAT.

What security features are there

Usually, 10 gram bars are sold in plastic blister packs. These blisters also contain the certificate. When buying precious metals, you should generally look for undamaged blisters with a certificate.

The Kinebar from Argor-Heraeus is a special bar with a full-surface laser engraving on the back, which is supposed to make the bar particularly forgery-proof.

The price of 10 gram gold bars

The price of 10 gram gold bars is based on the gold price on the stock exchange. Since the production steps and for a punched hundred gram bar are the same as for a 10 gram bar, the price premium is of course proportionally higher. Even though a 10-gram bar is ten times larger than a one-gram bar, it naturally does not have as low a trading margin as its larger brothers. Nevertheless, its affordability makes it a good gift for birthdays, christenings, weddings or even as a small emergency reserve.
